THE INTERCESSION
OF SAINT JUDE IN AMERICAN HISTORY
Our late President
John F. Kennedy, a Catholic, was born during the month of May in the year of
1917.
If President
Kennedy was born for any purpose in life, most probably it was to be President
of the
I think that in facing this problem
President Kennedy invoked the intercession of Saint Jude to turn us away from
the inevitable threat of war and catastrophe.
It should be mentioned that other clients of Saint Jude most probably
petitioned his powerful intercession during that time as well.
Through the mercy
and grace of God our prayers were heard and answered! On Sunday 28th October, the feast day of
Saint Jude Thaddeus, the Cuban Missile Crisis ended when Soviet Premier Nikita
Khrushchev agreed to withdraw the missiles.
When going to church that Sunday, President Kennedy said to a friend,
"This morning we have an extra reason to pray".
A Special Note:
It's interesting that President
Kennedy's son, John Jr. was born on 25th November, the feast day of Saint
Catherine Laboure and that his daughter, Caroline was
born on 27th November, the anniversary of when Our Lady showed Saint Catherine
"The Miraculous Medal".
